Shoeboxes Join the Army!

The New Zealand Army have joined Kiwi volunteers in Operation Christmas Child, the Samaritan's Purse initiative that delivers shoeboxes full of gifts to destitute children in places like Fiji.

On Tuesday, Army volunteers transported shoeboxes from collection points in Palmerston North, Dannevirke, Waipukurau, and Napier/Hastings down to the Wellington warehouse. The boxes will be shipped to Auckland for processing at the Auckland warehouse, then sent on their long journey over the sea to bring love and hope to people in need this Christmas.

You can view here video footage of last year's boxes being delivered.

The big shoebox count this year is as follows:

70 boxes from Pahiatua
169 boxes from Dannevirke
totalling 239 from Tararua plus 13 boxes of fillers
meaning 13 cartons for the army to transport to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse!

BRAVO EVERYBODY! That's 239 children in Fiji who's lives will be transformed this Christmas. And that's just the start of the positive changes that will happen in those communities. GOOD JOB!

Visit www.SamaritansPurse.org.nz to find out more of what Operation Christmas Child is doing around the world.

TIP: Start saving now for shoebox shopping in January! Shopping during the Back to School sales will allow you to fill your boxes for a lot less $$ than you'll need if you shop next September!

Songuine Notes

This past week it's all been happening in the music room.

Have you ever had an Important Moment that crumbled into Disaster? My important moment was an exciting concert opportunity that went badly awry, and yet a royal triumph arose out of this disaster. You can read my story here: A PRINCESS MOMENT.

SONG OF THE CANS AND CANNOTS will help you discover 7 keys for making headway in the pursuit of your dream.

AUDITIONING FOR SUSAN BOYLE -- details at www.songuine.blogspot.com.

I've begun preparations for singing with Jules Riding at his next album debut which will be filmed live in Auckland, October 9th. Visit his website to book tickets for the album recording or find out more details about the national tour in November.

That being said, somehow I've got to set aside all this lovely musication and scribe that Queensland novelation. Novels need rather more slog than songs do!

Warm Quantities of Queensland

Hi everyone.

I've just returned from 3 weeks in Queensland. It's main purpose was research for a novel. I did some singing while I was there, met some fantastic people, had a bundle of incredible experiences inspiring me with a pile of new creative projects, and that's about all I can say at this point! More music, movies, and stories forthcoming forthwith!

Last year's studio recording in Auckland with Jules Riding is still under wraps, but he is now promoting his album debut concert which will be recorded live - see http://www.elkanah.org.nz/ - and I'm hopeful that I'll be able to take up his invitation to be involved in the concert and national tour in November 2010.

Warm wishes to you all -- I stocked up on sunshine in Queensland, so I've got plenty to spare at the mo ; )

Shoot your Tap!

Help GIVE people SAFE WATER - SHARE a PHOTO of your TAP. Sponsor donates $2!

I took a photo of one of our garden taps, but you can choose an indoor one if you wish. And as you do, give thanks to God that you have a choice of taps when so many people do not even have one tap providing them with safe water.
